Boy, Are We Overdue For A Refresher Course On The Wizard Of Oz
You know the story. There were these people who thought they had lost their way, and were even lacking such essentials as a heart, courage or a brain.
So they went in search of the Great and Mighty Wizard. They had heard about him for years. He had been talked up as a kind of folk hero. He would surely be able to give them what they needed.
But the Wizard was elusive, and didn’t want the people to see or hear him in person.
When they finally found him, the people were shocked and angry to see that he was just a man — an older man who spoke haltingly and often seemed befuddled and confused. They felt they had been misled and were embarrassed for putting so much faith in this so-called Wizard who, in person, didn’t seem at all like someone who could solve their problems.
You remember how it ends and the moral of the story too, right?
The Wizard wasn’t such a big disappointment after all because he reminded the people that they had everything they needed all along.
